Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum 2017

The Federal Member for Mitchell, the Hon Alex Hawke MP, together with Miss Ronie Quinn, Chief Executive Officer, hosted 153 local students at the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum at Vision Valley from the 12 – 14 October 2017.

The Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum is in its 16th year, having started in 2002. It is a 2½ day live-in program for Year 11 students, based on the values of integrity, service and courage. This year was an amazing success with 153 students from 15 local high schools involved – the Forum is a significant opportunity for the students to be inspired and encouraged for their future potential in the lead up to their final year of school.

Students participated in team building activities, small group discussions, and a community service project at Aminya Village and McCall Gardens and listened to inspiring talks from Munjed Al Muderis, Annabelle Chauncy OAM, Hannah Murray, Zali Steggall OAM and Barnaby Howarth.

“The students who attended the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum this year were energetic, enthusiastic and committed throughout the Forum. I can’t wait to see how they positively impact their schools and the wider community in the future. It is an honour to be able to work with such a dedicated team of leaders and volunteer committee members, without whom, the Forum would not impact the lives of these students. We thank these leaders who are perfect examples of putting service, integrity and courage into action in our daily lives”, said Ronie Quinn, CEO of Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum.

We would like to thank our valued sponsors; our major sponsors, Nature’s Sunshine Australia and Castle Towers, and sponsors; PwC, Parker Hannifin and Redeemer Baptist School for their continuing commitment to the future of our student leaders. We would also like to thank Woolworths, Smiling Bakery, North West Growers, Allan Drew Funerals, The Hills Lodge, LSK Plastics and Swift Consulting for their community support to the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum.
