Major Flood Update from BOM

MAJOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE HAWKESBURY-NEPEAN RIVERS The B.O.M. has issued Flood Warning Number 10; and is indicating we could have major flooding similar to the March 2021 flood with the forecast rain tonight and into Thursday.

North Richmond The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond (WPS) is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (7.90 m) around 05:00 pm Wednesday. The river level may exceed the major flood level (10.50 m) Wednesday evening and may reach around 14.00 metres during Thursday, with major flooding. Further rises possible. North Richmond Bridge is now closed.

Windsor
The Hawkesbury River at Windsor (WPS) is expected to exceed the moderate flood level (7.00 m) Wednesday evening. The river level is likely to exceed the major flood level (12.20 m) and may reach around 12.50 metres, with major flooding during Thursday. Further rises are possible.

Sackville
The Hawkesbury River at Sackville is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.60 m) overnight Wednesday into Thursday. The river level may exceed the moderate flood level (7.30 m) during Thursday and may reach around 8.40 metres Friday morning, with moderate flooding. Further rises above the major flood level (9.70 m) are possible.

Lower Portland
The Hawkesbury River at Lower Portland may exceed the moderate flood level (6.10 m) Thursday morning. Further rises above the major flood level (7.60 m) are possible.

Wiseman’s Ferry
The Hawkesbury River at Wisemans Ferry may reach the moderate flood level (3.50 m) Thursday morning. Further rises to the major flood level are (4.20 m) are possible.

Colo River
Minor flooding is occurring along the Colo River at Putty Road. Moderate flooding is possible. The Colo River at Putty Road may reach around 3.50 metres Wednesday evening with minor flooding. Further rises above the moderate flood level (5.7m) are possible.

What you need to do NOW:
Residents and businesses, in low-lying areas along these river systems and adjoining creeks, should be getting ready to evacuate, if requested. Ensure you take pets and valuables with you.

Horses and livestock should now be relocated to higher ground or moved to a safer place (or internal gates opened to allow horses and livestock to get to higher ground).
