MAJOR CONTRIBUTION

More than 1000 people volunteer with Hills Shire Council, including Mrs Stewart, who were thanked at Hills Shire Council’s National Volunteer Week ceremony.

Council volunteers contributed approximately 100,000 hours of service to help deliver important services and programs during the past 12 months including English Conversation Group volunteers and The Friends of the Hills Library, Justices of the Peace, The Hills Youth Army and Youth Ambassadors, Bushcare, Community Nursery and Environment Centre volunteers, Hills Community Care volunteers and event volunteers.

Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne said: “Our volunteers are one of the most valuable resources in our region and it’s thanks to them that we can continue to build on our reputation as one of the best places in the state to live, grow, do business and raise a family.”

Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to visit The Hills Shire Council website (www.thehills.nsw.gov.au) and search “volunteering opportunities”.
