Live and Local Hawkesbury

Hawkesbury City Council has received grant funding of $20,000 through the Create NSW (formerly Arts NSW) ‘Live and Local’ Strategic Initiative. The funding provides the opportunity for Council to work with the Live Music Office to develop bespoke local music events.

The Live Music Office aims to increase venue based live music performance opportunities and Hawkesbury City Council is one of five Western Sydney councils to receive a grant to further develop the live music scene. Funding has been provided for the delivery of two new micro local music festivals, one in Richmond and another in Kurrajong during the first half of 2018.

The micro local music festivals will feature local musicians performing in a number of local businesses.

Some of the aims of the Live and Local initiative are to provide jobs for musicians and opportunities for audiences, as well as to support local businesses in programming live music. The micro music festivals also aim to provide a model for any businesses to follow, in programming live music.
