Hills Women Slump Against Bankstown City

Farewell cross copy Hills Women Slump Against Bankstown CityHills United slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bankstown City FC on Sunday, denting their chances of closing the gap at the top of the FNSW League One Women’s football championship. The loss comes on the back of two successive draws and means the Hills women (40 points) need something special to knock table leaders Mt Druitt Rangers (44 points) off their perch.

An unfortunate own goal by Kaylie Shannon gave Bankstown an early lead in the third minute before Isabella Sciberras levelled the scores in the seventh minute. However, Bankstown regained the lead in the 20th minute through Stephanie Ambrose and managed to hold off the Hills for the rest of the game.

The Hills, who started the season in rollicking style, face St George on Sunday, July 14 in their next game.
