Sciberras ‘Tricks as Hills United Swamp Nepean FC

Hills United FC continue to light up FNSW League One Women’s competition after stretching their unbeaten streak after nine rounds.

Superb attacking skills, backed by a solid defence, have been the key to the Hills’ strong early season form and continue from last year where they were one of the teams to beat.

Isabella Sciberras scored a hat-trick as Hills United powered past Nepean FC 7-0 in their round nine clash on Sunday. The brilliant striker found the net in the 47th, 51st and 96th minutes for her first hat-trick of the season as her team ran riot against the hapless Nepean outfit, who are 12th on the table.

The in-form Kaylie Shannon drew first blood for Hills in the 36th minute before Sciberras doubled the tally just before halftime. The floodgates opened in the second session with Bella Donaldson, Bianca Galayini and substitute Ashleigh Heuston-Richardson adding their names to the scoresheet, alongside the brace from Sciberras.

In their eighth round game, the Hills snatched a 1-0 victory over Blacktown City FC, thanks to Maddison Edmonds’ 15th-minute strike.

The Hills women’s defence, however, will be severely tested this Sunday, May 5, when they take on table leaders SD Raiders FC in the match of the round at Ernie Smith Reserve, Moorebank. The Raiders (23 points) leapt ahead of the Hills (20) after four successive wins.

The Hills women and the Raiders are also locked in a struggle for the women’s Club Championship with just three points separating them at the top.
