ANZAC Services
All over the Hills and Hawkesbury thousands of people young and old gathered to pay their respects to the fallen. There were services leading up to ANZAC Day and services from Dawn to dusk on ANZAC day as people showed they wouldn’t forget. The following have come from several sources.
Thousands of people stood silently to honour those who have served their country at a service organised by Castle Hill RSL sub-branch at the Centenary of ANZAC Reserve on Thursday.
Commodore Terry Morrison paused his address at the Dawn service as a C-130J Hercules Aircraft flew over the 10,000 plus crowd.
It was the first time the service was live-streamed. Castle Hill Sub-branch President Cheryl Hill said as well as the 10,000 plus who attended the Dawn Service in person another 2,500 watched the live stream.
“The flyover was spectacular and totally unexpected. We would like to thank the Police, SES, St John’s Ambulance and all the volunteers who helped make ANZAC Day such a special occasion to remember our fallen heroes,” she said.
There was also a good turnout at a Dawn Service organised by the Parramatta RSL sub-branch.
