Hawkesbury Library Service School Holiday Events

The Hawkesbury Library Service has come up with a series of events for kids to stay occupied during the school holiday in the summer, of January 2024.

On Friday, 5 January, and Monday, 22 January next year, kids can have a great time and test their LEGO building skills in the Hawkesbury Library’s ‘LEGO Challenge.’ Kids ages five and up can enjoy a 1-hour session, which begins at 10:00 AM and goes until 11:00 AM.

Tickets for the LEGO Challenge cost $2 for each session. Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite.

In addition, interested attendees can visit the library on Tuesdays from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM for free to watch a newly released DVD. The movies are Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023) on 9 January; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) on 16 January; and Scary Girl (2023) on 23 January. All free screenings start at 2:00 PM and go until 3:30 PM.

Two MiniBot Workshops will be held on Friday, 12 January, where ages 8 to 10 years old can learn how to make a bristle bot using a toothbrush and a battery circuit and a scribble bot from a paper cap, markers, and a battery circuit.

Lastly, learners from ages five and up can join the ‘Me & Zoo Animal Presentation’ on Thursday, 18 January, where they can have the chance to see, interact, and learn more about all sorts of animals, such as phytons and baby crocodiles. Tickets cost $5, while all accompanying adults are free.

The Hawkesbury Library also has an ongoing Summer Reading Club from 1 December 2023 until 31 January 2024. The SRC will have a coupon-based strategy to appeal to young readers, which can keep kids occupied during the holidays while they can redeem the coupons at the SRC early bird event next year. 

All the upcoming events in the Hawkesbury Library Service are part of the Hawkesbury LMG (Library, Museum, and Gallery) activities over the school holidays. 

Hawkesbury Central Library is on the ground floor of the Deerubbin Centre, located at 300 George Street in Windsor, while the Richmond Branch Library is at 29 West Market Street in Richmond.
