As spring starts to wrap up, summer is around the corner. This means school holidays can give kids plenty of time to do other stuff to pass the time.

Reading is one thing the Summer Reading Club (SRC) by the Hawkesbury Library Service has in mind. The program uses a coupon-based strategy to entice children into reading and keep them occupied over the summer weeks.

“Collect coupons for the books read between 1 December 2023 and 31 January 2024 and then redeem them at the SRC Shop in February,” the announcement by the Hawkesbury City Council indicated.

“The more books you read, the more you will be able to spend – what a great incentive!”
Parents and guardians can have their children, aged 16 and under, registered free of charge at the Hawkesbury libraries in Windsor or Richmond.

The Summer Reading Club Shop will be based at the Hawkesbury Central Library and open to the public from Saturday, 3 February until Saturday, 18 February 2024. The children may have the opportunity to be the first to participate in an early bird event on Friday, 2 February 2024.

As of writing, there are no active online registration links.

The Hawkesbury Central Library is located at 300 George Street in Windsor, while the Richmond Branch Library is accessible via 29 West Market Street in Richmond.
