It’s not yet too late for young artists, creatives, and designers alike, as the Hawkesbury Library Service is still accepting entries for its Library Bookmark Design Competition only until 5:00 PM, Friday, 27 September 2024.

The competition is open to children K-6 who are Hawkesbury locals or attend a school in Hawkesbury and is limited to one submission per person. The categories are Kindergarten to Year 2, Years 3 to 4, and Years 5 to 6.

“The Joy of Books and Reading” is the theme of the art competition, promoting reading and design, and aims to highlight the Library’s Junior Fiction Collection. The entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and printability. A winner and runner-up will be chosen from each of the three categories.

Winners in each category will receive a prize.

According to the Hawkesbury Library, the winning entries will see their artworks professionally printed into bookmarks and launched during the Summer Reading Club (running from 1 December 2024 to 31 January 2025).

The Hawkesbury Library shares how to enter into the event:

  1. Collect an entry form from Hawkesbury Central or Richmond Branch Libraries or download a copy here
  2. Read the Terms and Conditions
  3. Design your bookmark on the template provided
  4. Return your completed entry to either Library or email a scanned copy to [email protected]

The Hawkesbury Central Library is located at 300 George Street, Windsor, while the Richmond Branch Library is at 29 West Market Street, Richmond.
