Hawkesbury Community Shapes Corridors

Community feedback has won the day in the investigation of road and transport corridors in the West and North West of Sydney.

Member for Hawkesbury, Dominic Perrottet, has today welcomed a return to the previously gazetted 1951 road corridor for the Bells Line of Road – Castlereagh Connection.

The NSW Government announced it is taking the exhibited corridor between Castlereagh and Kurrajong Heights off the table.

Mr Perrottet thanked the Hawkesbury community for its strong advocacy.

“This is a great win for Hawkesbury community and I want to thank them for taking time to give excellent feedback during the consultation period,”

“I was able to take the communities strong response straight to the heart of government and advocate on their behalf,” Mr Perrottet said.

“Their voices have been heard loud and clear and the government has responded accordingly.”

In another win for the Hawkesbury, the Government has also announced it will relinquish the section of the Outer Sydney Orbital north of Richmond Road.

The Outer Sydney Orbital is a long term plan for the future transport needs of Western Sydney.

Works will continue with the Department of Planning and Environment and local councils on future options.
