Hawkesbury City Council: 2023-2024 Operational Plan & Budget now up online

The 2023-2024 Operational Plan and Budget is now available on the Hawkesbury City Council (HCC) website as of 29 June 2023.

According to the HCC in a media release, “The 2023/2024 Operational Plan and Budget details major works and highlights for the coming year, including amenities improvements, road upgrades, library purchases, and more.”

The plan is guided by Key Initiatives as follows:

• Continued focus on flood recovery works across the Hawkesbury
• Future planning, and early commencement of the [city-shaping] WestInvest projects
• Significant strategy and policy development to strengthen Council’s leadership of the region
• Continuing to provide quality services for our community

These highlights include a $65.6 million allocated for road works on Hawkesbury roads and drainage. In addition, other highlights are $37.8 million for waste collection and sanitation, a $27.9 million budget for improving public places, sports, and recreation, and $25.9 for funding the multiple galleries, libraries, museums, and cultural events and activities.

The Council will also allocate the remaining 2023 – 2024 Operational Budget to Strategic Planning ($6.0 million), Corporate Services ($4.9 million), and Regulation and Community Safety ($2.6 million).

The report states that the total budget is estimated at $170.6 million.

The HCC will source most of the funds from Rates and Annual Charges, which amounts to $76.7 million, Grants and Contributions ($49.7 million), and Depreciation ($24.6 million). The rest of the funds will come from User Charges and Fees ($9.2 million), Other Revenue ($5.2 million), Interest and Dividends ($3.4 million), Sale of Assets ($1.7 million), and Internal Reserves (NET) amounting to $0.2 million to a total of $170.6 million.
