The 14-month-old greyhound is currently being cared for by GAP (Greyhounds as Pets) and was at Kellyville last week as part of a regular adoption drive.

The day at Kellyville Pets saw seven greyhounds adopted and there are four applications in progress, two greyhounds also found foster carers for the 6-week adoption preparation program.

GAP NSW General Manager Dr Alicia Fuller said: “Our adoption days are very important as they give the public the chance to see the placid nature of the dogs, talk to our expert team to learn more about why greyhounds make great pets and get up close and have a pat.

“A greyhound will make a fantastic addition to any family. This breed is well-behaved and brings nothing but love. “

John Grima, Owner and Managing Director of Kellyville Pets believes Greyhounds are dogs well suited as pets in Sydney due to its urban consolidation and increasing population density.

“As the Sydney population continues to grow, we’re finding more and more people are living in apartments, and homes are being built on smaller blocks. Greyhounds are actually the perfect pet for this environment because of their calm temperament and they don’t require a lot of space to live, they just love a daily walk like all dogs. They really are the ideal apartment dog.” Boris (pictured with GAP volunteer Melanie) is still looking for his forever home.

He is described as a “ young energetic boy” who would love a spacious backyard to play in and sunbake during the day.

“Boris requires a home with a playful medium to large canine companion or one with a calm one that may instill some chill out vibes into him.”

GAP is a not-for-profit organisation that places greyhounds with loving owners. It also has a six-week Foster Care program and 14 day Foster Care Experience.
