The beginning of 2024 has witnessed numerous Galston High School students excel in various sporting endeavours, embodying their commitment to personal growth and aiming to achieve their personal best.

Jacynta Eisermann, a Year 12 student, has demonstrated outstanding performance in softball, earning accolades such as the Sydney North Schools Sports Association ‘Blue Award’ and representing Sydney North from 2021 to 2023. Jacynta’s remarkable skill led to her inclusion in the NSWCHS Blue Team in 2023, followed by selection for the School Sport Australia Championships, earning a spot in the All-Australian Girls Merit Team.

Jacynta’s exceptional performance secured her a place in the CHS team, leading to triumph in the NSW competition and selection for the NSW All Schools Softball team, which will be competing on the Gold Coast from July 27th to August 1st. Alongside Jacynta, Holly Taylor, also a Year 12 student, showcased her talent in softball, contributing to the Sydney North team’s victory as the Champion Association.

In another sporting arena, Galston High School students participated in the NSW All-School’s Triathlon, which included a 750m run, rather than a swimming stage, due to water quality concerns. Despite the challenge, Annabelle Vella, June Dayes, and Billie Burton, all Year 8 students, achieved 24th place overall, among all NSW schools, with the girls’ team clinching 3rd place, among all government schools.

During the recent school holidays, Grace Sandlin, a Year 7 student, impressed at the State Interschool (Equestrian) Vaulting Championships, securing 2nd place in the pre-novice level.

Jasmine Cook, also a Year 7 student, shone at the State Interschool Equestrian Championships, earning 3rd place in the 100 cm category and 5th place in the 90 cm category. Jasmine’s achievement qualifies her to represent GHS and Equestrian NSW at the 2024 Australian Interschool Championships, in Tamworth, in September 2024.

Rowan Whiteman and Zayne Driscoll of Year 11 have been chosen to represent Sydney North in the upcoming Hockey tournament scheduled for June 18th to 20th 2024. We extend our best wishes for success and victory as they compete in this prestigious event.

These are just some of the achievements which highlight the dedication of GHS students, who continuously strive to achieve their personal best, both academically and athletically, exemplifying the spirit of the “quiet achiever” within our school community. These successes serve as a testament to the diverse talents and efforts of our students.
