Food Supplies for Flood Affected People

By Sarah Richards

25 stranded families west of the river needed urgent supplies today, after the storm last night heightened the flooding around them and left them completely isolated.

So after phone calls, making arrangements for boats, packing food hampers and a whole lot of logistics, we got there!

Huge thanks to Linda, Erin and Jo from Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands for packing the food from their North Richmond depot.

Additional huge thanks to Bilpin local Fiona Germaine from Germaine Family Office for providing supplies from Woolworths.

Massive thanks to Kevin Jones from NSW SES Hawkesbury Unit for answering the call and ensuring the goods made their way to our local families.

As this flood crisis continues, do not let any ill informed person of privilege tell you that there is no need for supplies west of the river. It is an insult to our locals in dire need, an insult to our hard working charities and an insult to our volunteers who are working night and day to meet the increasing demand in an evolving emergency.

In the meantime, we will just keep getting on with the job of being on call, day and night, for everyone who needs us. Food Supplies for Flood Affected People
