Emerging Matildas to Show their Skills in Glenwood
Watch some of Australia’s elite young female footballers in action as they will descend on Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood for the 2025 Emerging Matildas Championships.
The exciting event is one of the major competitions being held in The Hills this year, featuring the country’s most promising female talent in the Under 15’s and Under 16’s age groups. It will be held from July 15-20. Valentine Sports Park hosted the event known as the National Youth Championships.
Football Australia has decided to revamp the country’s foremost Under 15 and 16 competitions, giving it a new identity and vision. Football NSW said the championships will set a new benchmark for elite youth development, further enhancing pathways for the country’s brightest young talents.
The championship at the home of Football NSW will bring together teams from FA’s nine State and Territory Member Federations, with the players vying for recognition in front of the national team technical staff and talent scouts.
Football Victoria will host the Emerging Socceroos Championship for boys under 15 and under 16 from July 6-11.
FNSW said it is an essential part of Football Australia’s talent identification scheme and has paved the way for many Matildas and Socceroos over the years.
Players like Hayley Raso, Kye Rowles and Mackenzie Arnold (all from Football QLD), Jordan Bos, Kyra Cooney- Cross (Football Victoria), Emily van Egmond (Northern NSW Football), Charlotte Grant (Football SA), Ellie Carpenter, Caitlin Foord, Bryleeh Henry, Jessika Nash, Josh Nisbet (Football NSW), all progressed to international football through this tournament.
The 2025 Emerging Matildas Championships and 2025 Emerging Socceroos Championships will feature up to 58 teams showcasing the most talented youth footballers from across Australia.
“The Emerging Matildas Championships are a cornerstone of our elite pathways, where our brightest junior talent from across the country come together for a six-day event which develops, inspires and celebrates the next generation of national team players,” Football Australia CEO James Johnson said.
“The success of the CommBank Matildas is built on the foundations laid at events like this, which are crucial in identifying and preparing the stars of tomorrow, while providing opportunities for aspiring coaches, match officials and technical staff to showcase their own wares.”
