Driver charged over fatal crash – Castle Hill

A man has been charged following an investigation into a fatal crash in Sydney’s north-west earlier this month.

A man has been charged following an investigation into a fatal crash in Castle Hill earlier this month.

At about 5:25 PM on Wednesday 19 June 2024, emergency services were called to Tuckwell Road, Castle Hill, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

On arrival, officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command were told a silver Mercedes sedan and a white Isuzu utility had collided.

The front passenger of sedan – a 58-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, she later died at hospital.

The driver of a sedan – a 24-year-old woman – and two other passengers – aged 60 and 18 – were also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the utility – a 47-year-old man – was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following investigations on Saturday, June 29, 2024, the man attended Castle Hill Police Station, where he was arrested.

He was charged with dangerous driving occ death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), cause bodily harm by misconduct – in charge of motor vehicle, and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 7 August 2024.
