Driver Charged After Woman Dies When Hit by Ute at Dural
A woman has died after being hit by ute while walking in Dural yesterday afternoon, The NSW Police Force reported.
Emergency services were called to Old Northern Road at about 4:30 PM, Monday 18 November 2024, and found the woman, believed to be in her 70s, had suffered critical injuries after being struck by the southbound ute.
The driver of the ute, a 28-year-old man from Zetland, stopped to render assistance, but the woman died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.
Officers attached to Kuring Gai Police Area Command established a crime scene, arresting the driver and taking him to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.
On release, the man was taken to Hornsby Police Station, where specialist police attached to the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) charged him with negligent driving, occasioning death.
He has been granted conditional bail to appear in Hornsby Local Court on 19 December 2024.
