“Connection and Identity” – Creative Arts Competition

In celebration of Youth Week 2024, Hills Shire Council is hosting an art competition in honour of Youth Week 2024 and young artists are encouraged to submit their work!

This competition is available for young people, aged 12-24, living, working or studying within the Hills Shire to showcase their creative and artistic abilities.

There are major prizes on offer and all submissions will go in the running to win, They will be reviewed through a panel of esteemed critics including Mayor of The Hills Shire Council, Dr Peter Gangemi. Submissions will also be included at an exhibition at one of the Hills’ lagrest Youth Week events for 2024, The Hills Youth Festival.

The theme of the competition is ‘Connection and Identity’. Submissions should explore a young person’s perspective living in the Hills. Submissions will need to be completed online via the link below. Submissions can be new or existing and from any medium, as long as they fit the competition’s theme and artists will need to photograph their submission and upload it to the link alongside some other details.

Please ensure that prior to submission, your artwork meets the following criteria.

  • The artwork follows the theme of ‘Connection and Identity’
  • The dimensions of the artwork are no larger than 43cm (W), 29cm (D) and 20cm (H)
  • The artwork is able to sit flat on a table OR upright with no additional support
  • The artwork can be vertical or horizontal •• The artwork must be unmounted and unframed
  • Any art materials may be used (paint, pencils, pastels, paper collage)
  • The artwork must be able to be delivered to staff of The Hills Shire Council should it be selected to be included in the final exhibition.
