BECAUSE YOU MATTER

Because You Matter is the name of three days of Action at Castle Towers to highlight the work of The Hills Domestic Violence Prevention Network and the services available to families in need.

The three day campaign includes a talk by family law experts and a family counsellor at the new Community Hub at Castle Towers on Thursday, June 27 plus an information stall.

HDVPN Convenor Uma Menon said a variety of events had been organised over the three days to highlight the services available to people in the area and to offer information and an opportunity to connect with support services.

“The aim is to reach out to the community in a very public place so that people who may need support can find it easily and that people who may know someone who needs help can find out the best way to do that.”

On Wednesday, June 26, Hills Community Aid will be holding an origami craft class between 10.30am and 12.30pm at The Community Hub at Castle Towers, near the entrance opposite Castle Hill railway station.

On Thursday, June 27, there will be an information stall on the ground floor of Castle Towers from 9am to 7pm. A special wallet card will be handed out by members of the Hills Domestic Violence Prevention Network listing the contact details of support services in the area.

On Thursday evening, 7pm to 9pm, at The Community Hub Karen Haga from Karen L Haga & Associates and Andrea Harrold from Frank Legal will talk about domestic violence, the law and AVOs and their impact.

Experienced family counsellor Faye Hansen will also be at hand to answer questions.

On Friday, May 28, there will be a morning tea and an art show titled: Because You Matter by local high school students. Members of the Hills Domestic Violence Prevention network will be on hand to talk about available services.
