The Australian Parliamentary Library is home to many historically significant items, and Parliamentary Librarian Dr Dianne Heriot was kind enough to show me this treasure recently.

This bible is a memento of the Signing of Peace at the end of WWI, presented to Federal Parliament by the Governor General on behalf of the British and Foreign Bible Society Victoria, and features the signatures of all the Presidents of the Senate and Speakers of the House of Representatives from Federation to 2022.

It will be a special moment for me when our current Speaker, Milton Dick MP – whom I “dragged” to the chair at the first sitting of the 47th Parliament – adds his name to this very special list.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][us_image image=”69583″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
