by Ramalka Kasige (Area 37 Director, Western Division, District 90 Toastmasters)

The Toastmasters International Centennial Celebration marked a momentous occasion in the history of this esteemed organisation, and Area 37 clubs of Western Division, District 90 toastmasters rose to the occasion with grand celebrations.

Bringing together members of their respective clubs, each club celebrated 100 years of empowering individuals to become confident communicators and leaders.

Area 37 is a fairly new area and was the only new area formed in 2020 under its first Area Director, Alicia Leise (2020-2021). Currently it comprises three toastmasters clubs: Hawkesbury Valley Toastmasters, Dural Toastmasters and Rouse Hill Toastmasters.

Hawkesbury Valley Toastmasters is a fun-loving and enthusiastic group where laughter is an essential part of every meeting, creating an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere for all members. Dural Toastmasters is one of the most professional clubs in the district, featuring a vibrant community of members dedicated to helping others develop their public speaking and leadership skills in a welcoming environment.

Rouse Hill Toastmasters consistently attracts a large number of visitors to each meeting, and it is a dynamic asset to the area, devoted to supporting both members and visitors in a friendly, encouraging environment.

These clubs each held their own centennial celebrations during their education meetings. Each club has its own style of conducting meetings and this was reflected in their unique centennial celebration-themed meetings as well. The distinctive skill set, energy, and dynamic membership representing each locality contributes a unique flavor to Area 37.

Each meeting had a vibrant blend of speeches, storytelling, and camaraderie. Distinguished speakers shared insights into the history and legacy of Toastmasters, inspiring members to continue striving for excellence.

The celebrations also featured engaging Table Topics sessions, where members explored themes of growth, resilience, and leadership – the very values that have defined Toastmasters for 100 years.

As this historic milestone is now celebrated, the members of Area 37 clubs will be looking to the future with optimism and enthusiasm. Each club’s Centennial Celebration wasn’t just about honoring the past – it was a call to action for the next generation of Toastmasters to carry the torch forward, continuing the mission of personal and professional growth.

As Toastmasters enters the next century, the memorable, celebration-themed meetings of Area 37 will stand as a beacon, inspiring and empowering individuals to find their voice and lead with confidence, propelling Area 37 to new heights.
