Annual Gold Ribbon Ball

On Saturday 2 September 2023, a Gold Ribbon Ball is being held at the brand-new Western Sydney Community and Conference Centre in Penrith to raise fund for local Hills charity, Kids with Cancer Foundation. Tickets include a three-course dinner, drinks package, entertainment and parking.

Organised by Danielle, Sophie and Harrison Smith, the Gold Ribbon Ball is a legacy to their son and brother, William Smith, who lost his battle with cancer in 2018 at just eight years old.

Two years after William was diagnosed – after 17 months of treatment including 6 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, two bone marrow transplants, radiation and five rounds of immunotherapy – William’s family were given the horrible news that his cancer was now so aggressive there were no further options, and he would have only six to eight weeks left to live.

Kids with Cancer Foundation helped Danielle, William, and their family throughout their horrible two-year journey, supplying Care Packs to distract from long hospital visits, as well as providing financial support.

Last year, in memory of William, Danielle, Sophie and Harrison held their first Gold Ribbon Ball, raising $32,000 for Kids with Cancer Foundation, to help support other families going through their own nightmare journeys. This year the family hope to raise $40,000.
