2019 Season at Castle Hill Players Promises to entertain and delight audiences

[vc_row][vc_column][us_post_title][vc_column_text]Castle Hill Players is proud to announce its 2019 season which promises to entertain, delight and engage audiences with a variety of plays. Program Director, Annette Snars, is excited about the 2019 season of plays at The Pavilion. “We have six experienced and talented directors, presenting six entertaining plays of diverse topic, genre, time and place, with fascinating characters and stories. Selecting a season of plays is one of the most important tasks the membership decides upon each year.  I was impressed by the quality of plays vying for selection for 2019; we were spoilt for choice, so it was exciting to arrive at the final six. It means that once again Castle Hill Players are providing residents of the Hills District and beyond a year of outstanding theatre, locally produced, as has been the case for over 60 years now.  It’s what we are known for, our reputation is second to none and we intend to continue in this way for many, many years to come.”

We start the season with Bloody Murder. This is not your usual murder-mystery. It’s Agatha Christie, it’s Pirandello, no, it’s Bloody Murder! Dark Voyager finds us in the depths of 1960s Hollywood where we meet Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford and Bette Davis in the home of infamous gossip columnist Hedda Hopper in this dark comedy. Leading Ladies is a hilarious farce from Ken Ludwig about two travelling actors and their quest to make a quick buck. Biloxi Blues, a semi- autobiographical comedy from Neil Simon. The Diary of Anne Frank is a powerful depiction of war and the power of the human spirit.  We end the season with Nell Gwynn, which takes audiences into the heady theatre world of Restoration London. It depicts one of London’s first female performers and her relationship with King Charles II.
