Get ready, Hawkesbury! The highly anticipated Woodbury Reserve Skate Park is officially opening its gates to the public this Friday, April 18, 2025, promising a fantastic new space for skateboarders and scooter enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.

This exciting addition is the latest milestone in the ongoing transformation of Woodbury Reserve, following the popular pump track and mountain bike trails that opened last August. The substantial upgrade of the reserve is made possible through significant funding from the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) program, contributing $5.4 million, alongside a $3 million boost from the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program.

Last week saw an early celebration with The Honourable Peter Primrose MLC, Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman MP, and Hawkesbury Mayor Les Sheather officially marking the skate park’s completion. This sneak peek offered a glimpse of the action to come when the park fully opens this week.

“Woodbury Reserve is now home to another fantastic recreational area,” said Peter Primrose, highlighting the benefit for both locals and visitors. “This time, it’s the skating community who will get to enjoy this wonderful new facility.”

Susan Templeman MP echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of federal funding in bringing the project to fruition. “I’m pleased our Federal funding has helped to deliver a much-needed facility for this part of the Hawkesbury. The collaboration by Council’s designers and people young and old was good to see and I look forward to watching skateboarders in action during the holidays.”

The design of the skate park is a testament to community collaboration. Local families and passionate members of the Hawkesbury skating community actively participated in design workshops held in September and October 2024. Their valuable feedback ensured the final design catered to a wide range of abilities and truly reflected the needs and desires of the local skating scene.

“It was important that the skate park was inclusive of all skating abilities and reflected the local skating community.” Mayor Sheather said. “To have had so many local community members contribute to the final design, and now be able to skate on their vision, is a truly incredible outcome.”

The skate park is a key element of the comprehensive Woodbury Reserve Masterplan, adopted in February 2022 after extensive engagement with the community. This plan outlines significant upgrades to provide the Glossodia community and surrounding areas with much-needed spaces for both active pursuits and relaxed enjoyment of the outdoors.

This new skate park underscores Council’s commitment to providing high-quality spaces and infrastructure that encourage healthy and active lifestyles while celebrating the natural beauty that the Hawkesbury region has to offer. So, grab your board or scooter and head down to Woodbury Reserve – the fun starts this Friday!

Weather permitting, Council anticipates the Woodbury Reserve redevelopment will be completed in the second half of 2027.
