Woman, 32, Arrested for Drink Driving & Fail to Submit to Breath Analysis
At about 2:00 PM on Monday, 7th October 2024, The Hills Highway Patrol were conducting a northbound patrol on Old Northern Road, Dural, near Wyoming Road, when officers observed a silver Mitsubishi Mirage, closely following their fully marked highway patrol vehicle.
Despite police activating their lights and sirens and veering to the left, the driver continued north on Old Northern Road. Police followed the vehicle, eventually causing it to stop on Old Northern Road, Dural.
Upon approaching the vehicle, police identified the driver, a 32-year-old woman, as the sole occupant. A roadside breath test returned an incredibly positive result.
Police reported an open bottle of white wine was also found in the passenger footwell.
The driver was arrested and transported to Castle Hill Police Station for a breath analysis. The driver allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication. The driver failed to provide a sufficient breath sample for analysis after three attempts.
Her licence was immediately suspended, and she was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 21st November 2024 for the offence of failing to submit to a breath analysis.
According to The Hills Police Area Command, failure to submit to breath analysis is deemed to be the same as High Range Drink Driving.
Double demerits were also in effect during the long weekend, the NSW Road Safety reminded.
