The Sydney Antique Machinery Club

The Sydney Antique Machinery Club is one of Australia’s largest antique machinery
clubs whose members are passionate about the preservation and display of
Australia’s agricultural and industrial heritage, ranging from collectables to vintage
vehicles, tractors and engines.

Each year it conducts the “Clarendon Classic” ®, on the third weekend in September, this year being 15th and 16th, at the Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon. This event draws exhibitors and visitors not only from its local membership, but also from many parts of NSW and interstate. It is the premier historic machinery show on the calendar and one of the largest heritage displays of its type in the country.

Visitors will be treated to displays of steam engines, machinery of all kinds, vintage cars and trucks, tractors (including a tractor pull – always a crowd puller) wooden boats, motorcycles, speed cars, models and hobbies – the list goes on. A display of up to 300 Kenworth trucks is a feature, both working and historic. Vendor stalls offer everything from tools to old engines, plenty of food vendors, and free amusements for children. The Ladies’ stall offers a huge range of bric-a-brac, and the juniors’ stall offers Slushies.

There is ample free parking within the showground, or visitors can arrive by train just a short walk from the entry gate. Entry is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children or $25.00 per family (EFTPOS available at the gates). An ATM will be operating on site. For those who park in the showground, there are tractor-pulled shuttle ride trailers offering transport, or just a joy ride. Double-decker buses link to Richmond station for rides on the steam trains operating both days (must pre-book).

The mayor of Hawkesbury City Council will officially open the show at Noon Saturday. A programme and site map is provided to visitors upon entry, and includes engine startups, tractor pull, and grand parade of tractors. The club offers a range of souvenir merchandise such as hats, key rings, badges and mugs.
