Enjoy a Family Day out on the Kellyville Circuit Metro Walk
If you’re looking for a family-friendly activity this summer, pack a picnic and head out on the Hills Shire’s newest Metro walk: The Kellyville Circuit – The Turkeys Nest Walk.
Starting at Kellyville Metro station, this 5.7km walk features paved paths suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
There are several spots to stop and rest along the way, including Caddies Creek Reserve, Beaumont Village Shopping Centre, Turkeys Nest Recreation Park and Barker Street Reserve.
Turkeys Nest Recreation Park is a perfect location for a picnic. The park was a dairy farm until the 1970s and features a large central pond and viewing platform, children’s playground, picnic shelters, as well as cow statues and milk jugs that pay homage to the site’s past and make for a great photo.
Once you’re ready to head home, the walk takes you on a convenient loop along Strangers Creek, Windsor Road and then back to Kellyville Metro Station.
For avid green thumbs, there are opportunities to see a range of local flora along the way, including Ancient Forest Red Gums, River Flat Eucalyptus Forest and Red Gum Woodland.
