The Hills Shire Draft Bike Plan
The Hills Shire Draft Bike Plan was put on public exhibition earlier this year.
The Bike Plan is a strategic document that is intended to assist Council’s future decision-making for the active transport network throughout the Shire.
Residents have conveyed significant concern that the bike plan recommends a formalised shared pathway between Linksley Avenue, Glenhaven and Citadel Crescent, Castle Hill.
Recently I met with residents at the Citadel Crescent Reserve track, which is locally known as ‘The Bush Track’. These residents are part of the long-standing ‘Save The Bush Track’ group.
I spent several hours walking through the bush on this track with residents hearing their concerns over a shared pathway. There is a long standing history of residents in this area wanting tracks like this to remain as they currently are.
I do not support shared paths being constructed through bushland such as this. It is my opinion that these areas should be left as is – that being a natural track for bush walkers and the odd mountain bike. Not a formalised widened cycle way.
I have heard the communities concerns on this and will not be supporting such proposal.
