TAFE Student Winner in “Best Mix of an Original Song” Category

A Rouse Hill local has taken out the inaugural TAFE NSW Innovative Music Mixing Awards and is already living out her dream music career as an audio engineer.

28-year-old Trisha Maddy turned heads and opened ears when she mixed an original song which earned her the prestigious award. The prestigious awards are presented state-wide every year as a result of a partnership with TAFE NSW and leading audio software and video editing company Avid and technology company Innovative Music. Trisha Maddy’s song ‘One Look’ scored her the win after graduating from the Advanced Diploma of Electronic Music at TAFE NSW Ultimo.

“I am thrilled to receive this award, which is a credit to the 12 months of hard work I put into co-writing and producing 12 songs,” Trisha said. “I would not have been able to achieve this without the help of my TAFE NSW teachers, who were flexible and able to customise our learning materials to ensure we were getting the most out of our course.”

TAFE NSW Creative and Design Ideation Industry Innovation Specialist Steve Bull said the awards are a culmination of a successful partnership with Avid. “TAFE NSW works closely with industry to set our students up for a successful career,” Mr Bull said.

Avid Technology Audio Partner Account Manager Head of Marketing Shauna Purcell, said “Our relationship with TAFE NSW has always been strong, but we’re excited to see it grow by the continuous efforts of the TAFE NSW staff with their innovative ideas on how to collaborate further, to support their student’s creativity and progression in the music industry. “We want to congratulate all the applicants for their efforts.”
