Schofield man unwraps $25,000 Instant Scratch-Its top prize during quarantine

A Schofield man is pleased to have come out of quarantine on a high note after scratching a $25,000 top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket gifted by his friend.

The top prize-winning $2 Christmas Cheer Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra North Kellyville, Shop T07, North Kellyville Village, 12-14 Withers Road, Kellyville.

“I was so excited when I’d realised I’d won $25,000!” the winning man told an official from The Lott.

“It was actually a Christmas gift from my friend, so it’s definitely a wonderful present!

“When I scratched the top prize, I didn’t believe it at first. I told my friend straight away and he was over the moon.

“I said to him, ‘I’ll have to shout you some breakfast!’.

“I’ve actually just finished quarantine, so the win has really brought me some joy.

“What a great way to start 2022!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the stoked bloke said he already knew exactly what he was going to do.

“I’d like to put it towards savings! I’ll put it straight into the bank,” he shared.

“Who knows, I might even treat myself to a little holiday.”

Nextra North Kellyville owner Dipak Raghvani said it’s the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket the outlet had sold.

“It feels amazing to have sold a top prize-winning ticket! We’ve had a couple division two winning entries in Powerball and Oz Lotto, but nothing else,” he said.

“We really hope it’s the first of many more. It’s a great way to start the new year.

“Congratulations to the winner, and we wish them all the best!”

In 2021, there were 157 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $10 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $256.26 million. This equates to almost three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
