Richmond Bridge Now Closed, Other Areas Flooding

The Richmond Bridge has been closed off, and rails have been lowered, according to Mayor of Hawkesbury Sarah McMahon on Friday afternoon, 7 June 2024.

The Yarramundi Bridge is now closed and currently underwater (07 June 2024; 4:15 PM).

The Sackville Ferry will not operate from 7:00 PM.

At Windsor, the Hawkesbury River may peak at 7m tonight, Friday evening, and into Saturday.

In The Hills Shire, Wisemans Ferry Rd in Cattai is also closed due to flooding.

Meanwhile, Greater Sydney Local Land Services announced that Castle Hill Showground is now open to livestock and domestic animals as a safe place.

NSW State Emergency Services advises residents of North Richmond, parts of Cattai, the Northern part of Pitt Town (around Percy’s Place Caravan Park), Cornwallis, and the eastern part of Richmond Lowlands to Prepare to Evacuate.

The Bureau of Meteorology says that major flooding may occur along the Hawkesbury and Lower Nepean Rivers. According to the Bureau:

The Nepean River at Penrith is currently at 5.17 metres and rising, above the minor flood level (3.90 m). The Nepean River at Penrith may reach around 6.20 metres Friday evening.

The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond (WPS) is currently at 6.06 metres and rising, with minor flooding. The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond (WPS) is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (7.90 m) late Friday afternoon. The river level may peak near 11.50 metres overnight Friday into Saturday, with major flooding.

The Hawkesbury River at Windsor (WPS) is likely to exceed the minor flood level (5.80 m) on Friday evening. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (7.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.

The Hawkesbury River at Sackville may reach the minor flood level (4.60 m) Saturday morning.
