On the evening of Saturday, 7 September 2024, officers from the Castle Hill Police Station conducted stationary random breath testing along Windsor Road, Kellyville. At approximately 11:40 PM, police observed a black Toyota Hilux, approach the testing site in a northbound direction.
Approximately 80 metres from the testing site, the vehicle conducted a U-turn across double white lines before turning left onto Showground Road towards Castle Hill. Police activated their warning devices and pursued the vehicle, which continued onto Green Road, Kellyville.
After approximately one kilometre, police caught up to the vehicle and found the driver standing beside the passenger door.
The driver admitted to conducting the U-turn and stated he had not seen the testing site. He also admitted to consuming two scotches, with his last drink at approximately 10:30 PM. He returned a positive roadside test.
According to the Hills Police Area Command, the driver was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station for further testing, which returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.071.
The driver was issued an infringement notice for driving with a low-range PCA (first offence) and a suspension notice. His licence was confiscated and sent to the RMS.
Castle Hill Police says it remains committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and will continue to conduct random breath testing operations as part of Operation RAID.
