Attendees are encouraged to bring a small, sharp knife to cut the mushrooms for picking and a basket/box to collect mushrooms in. Permaculture Hawkesbury recommends wearing fully enclosed shoes (such as gumboots) and long pants, as the group may encounter leaches in the Hampton Forest.

In addition, wearing warm clothing and a jacket is advisable as the announcement mentioned it can get cold in the forest.
