Free Oppenheimer screening at Hawkesbury Central Library

Mark your calendars for a free Oppenheimer screening by the Hawkesbury Library Service at the Hawkesbury Central Library on Tuesday, 2 April 2024.

The 2023 blockbuster movie was directed by Christopher Nolan and starred in a star-studded cast including Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and Matt Damon. The historical and biographical movie was nominated for 13 Academy Awards and won 7 Oscars.

It features the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, and his team of scientists during their years of research and design for one of humanity’s historical inventions.

“The movie is set during World War II where a team of scientists, including the American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, spent years developing and designing the atomic bomb,” the synopsis states.

“Their work comes to fruition in July 1945, as they witness the world’s first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.”

Tickets are essential and can be booked online via Eventbrite: Free Movie at your Library. Tea and coffee will be available before the screening.
