Spirit Of Nathan Gremmo Lights Up Memorial Shield
The spirit of Nathan Gremmo was very much alive at last Sunday’s memorial match to honour the memory of the young Hills District Bulls player. The annual fixture also promotes promote organ and tissue donations, which was Nathan’s big passion.
The 11th Nathan Gremmo Memorial Shield match, played at Crestwood Oval, Baulkham Hills, were a fitting legacy to the 13-year-old who died from an accident in 2015.
However, the Bulls were unable to make it six-in-a-row, losing the exciting Ron Massey Cup contest to the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The Bulls made a stirring comeback after the interval, scoring four tries, but it was too late to prevent a 34-28 loss. The Bulldogs led 30-6 at half-time after five converted tries.
However, fired by the occasion, the Bulls had the crowd roaring as they came within two points of the Bulldogs, with four converted tries in a furious 16-minute span. The visitors sealed victory with a 74th minute try.
“We would like to thank the whole Hills Community, especially the Hills Bulls, for assisting with Nathan’s Legacy in saving lives through Organ Donation and Jersey Day. What a wonderful gift, the gift of Life,” said Michael Gremmo, the president of the Hills Bulls.

Thanks to Nathan’s organ donations in 2015, six lives were saved. As he fatefully wrote in his last Instagram post: ”You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
GRIFFO’S LEGEND’S LUNCH
The Bulls are holding Griffo’s Long Legends Lunch on Friday, July 25, to remember their very popular committee member and coach Paul ‘Griffo’ Griffin, tragically killed last year. League icons Peter Sterling, Mark Laurie, John Muggleton and Eric Grothe are headlining the event, which includes a live auction.
Griffo, a great friend of the Gremmos, and Nathan also went on to save lives through organ donation.
