Active Young Bodies For Active Young Minds

In today’s digital world, being active has never been more important for both physical and mental development. This school holiday MINIFIT Kids Clinics will be coming to CHRG’s Castle Hill RSL with their FREE school holiday clinics for children aged 5-12 years.

MINIFIT uses simple, proven methods designed to help kids to feel a level of passion and fun for fitness that will build foundations for a healthy future for them.

These clinics are an interactive, hands-on and exciting day of events led by former NRL legend, Anthony Minichiello who is passionate about children’s health. Encouraging health, fitness and fun, these clinics give your children a chance to build both physical skills and lasting friendships.

MINIFIT know there’s more to exercise than just physical fitness & good health. Exercise also has a profound effect on cognitive abilities and mental health. Clinical trials have found evidence of a link between low physical activity levels and poor movement skills with low scores in brain development tests and poor social behaviour.

Neuroscientists studying the impact of physical activity on brain activity report an increase in brain function from base levels of 15-25% to 65-75% when academic tasks are performed following physical activity. Brett Andrews, CHRG General Manager of Health Fitness & Sport said “The end-goal is to help children include exercise in their life in a positive way rather than think of it as something they should do.

“As an organisation committed to sport, health and wellness we are excited to be partnering with MINIFIT to help improve young local children’s overall mind and body health by providing these fun and educational exercise programmes.”

Mr Andrews added “As the GM of CHRG’s Castle Hill Fitness and Aquatic Centre, I see first-hand just how important it is to encourage our children to enjoy sports and fitness from a young age. Encouraging children to participate in sport and fitness early in life, holds them in good stead to continue those healthy habits, well into adulthood.”

Castle Hill RSL Club will be hosting two (2) free MINIFIT clinics in the Lyceum on Tuesday 19th April:
• 10.00am – 12.00pm for children aged between 5-8yrs
• 1.00pm – 3.00pm for children aged between 9-12yrs
