McGilvray Place Reserve’s Playground Renewal
The McGilvray Place Reserve is one of seven playgrounds in the Hills set to have their playgrounds renewed.
The McGilvray Place Reserve will see a playground renewal, Mayor of the Hills Shire Dr Peter Gangemi mentioned on Tuesday, 6 February 2024.
The reserve, located on Adelphi Street in Rouse Hill, will undergo playground installation work within February this year and is expected to be complete in the same month (weather permitting). According to the Council, work will take place from Monday to Saturday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
The awaited renewed playground will include a multi-play unit with slides, monkey bars, and rope elements, a double compact swing, an inclusive rocker, and a combination of rubber and mulch soft-fall areas.
The works on the McGilvray Place Reserve are part of the Hills Shire Council’s 2023/2024 Annual Playground Renewal program. This includes “ensuring playground assets are in good condition and meet safety standards, as well as to improve play experiences.”
The Council mentioned the guidelines from the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play are implemented where possible. The renewals have also been made possible via the Council’s Playground Replacement Program, which is a part of the Council’s Capital Works Program.
On 24 July 2023, the Council opened an exhibition and survey to the community to gain feedback on the final playground designs, which closed on 17 August 2023.
The six other playgrounds are Bundara Way Reserve and Gooden Drive Reserve in Baulkham Hills, Connie Lowe Reserve and William Harvey Reserve in Rouse Hill, Coolong Reserve in Castle Hill, and Coorumbene Court Reserve in Bella Vista.
