Man arrested following alleged assault and vehicle theft, Winston Hills
NSW Police has arrested a man at Winston Hills in relation to the alleged assault and vehicle theft upon a ride-share driver at about 1:35 AM on Monday, 24 June 2024.
Earlier today, the Police and emergency services were called to reports of an assault at the intersection of Kindelan Road and Gibbon Road, Winston Hills.
Officers attached from the Parramatta Police Area Command were notified that a man, 49, was working as a ride-share driver when he accepted a booking from two men at an address in Box Hill at about 12:35 AM.
According to the Police, the men directed the driver to several locations including a service station on Penure Street, Rouse Hill, at 1:05 AM where they purchased food items before returning to the ride share vehicle.
The driver was instructed to attend further addresses and, when at the intersection of Kindelan Road and Gibbon Road, he was allegedly assaulted by the men.
Police will allege the driver ran from the vehicle and sought assistance from a nearby resident who contacted Triple Zero.
The men drove from the location in a ride-share vehicle – a white 2018 VW Tiguan.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 49-year-old at the scene before he was taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition with head and facial injuries.
