Major Boxing Extravaganza Rumbles in THE HILLS
Show-stopping boxing comes to The Hills when the first-ever Wanderer Promotions Warehouse Rumble takes over the Bella Vista Hotel on Thursday, June 6.
The headline act features Sara Jalonen from Sydney fighting Perth’s Jaki Toth for the vacant WBA Oceania Super featherweight title, in what should be a cracker of a night.
Promoter and founder of Wanderer Promotions, Ricky Colosimo, said the major event is a game changer for boxing not only in the Hills but in Australia, with six professional fights, and 10 elite amateur bouts being staged in front of what should be a packed crowd.
Boxing fans are hard to beat when it comes to barracking for their heroes and they are bound to bring the roof down when two state titles are on the line.
Up-and-coming local boxers Bayan Yaz and Jayden Buan are in prime condition to add to their growing reputation and will attract a lot of local support. Another boxer to look out for at the Warehouse Rumble is tough-as-nails Nai Kisona.
To make it more of a community event, the organisers have laid on live entertainment including comedians, a light show, memorabilia auctions and more.
“It is going to birth a new era in Australian boxing with five more planned shows before the end of the year,” said Colosimo, a former top professional fighter.
As a highly-successful amateur fighter before turning pro, Colosimo knows that grassroots boxing is needed in the Hills and across Australia for the sport to produce world champions. His professional boxing career was cruelly cut short by injuries but he is keen to use his vast experience to bring the noble art back to its best in Australia.
“Wanderer Promotions are more than just boxing. We want to build a platform from the grassroots level to amateurs and all the way to the pros, with the goal of one day hosting world title fights,” Colosimo said. “My promotions build skills in young men and women that go far beyond boxing, include public speaking & business development. I am very excited to bring it all to life and change many lives for the better.
‘Previously, the sport has had negative perceptions but having 25 amateur fights and five professional bouts myself, I want to show the transformative power that the sport has for young men and women. It gives them a dream and something to strive for while teaching a lot of discipline and life lessons along the way.
“I have learnt my biggest life lessons through boxing – it’s been an amazing journey for me and it’s now time to give back to the sport and be able to provide that journey for many others.”
