Hawkesbury celebrates NSW Seniors Festival 2019

The Hills Shire Council has organised a range of free local events to Celebrate NSW Seniors Festival 2019 which run until February 24 for residents over the age of 60.

Activities include guided bushwalks, hydrotherapy sessions, fitness and dance classes, a medicine management workshop and so much more.

Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne said: “This year’s theme, ‘love your life’, resonates with everything that this Council considers when it comes to the services that we provide, how we plan for the future and the support and the vital connections that we create.

February 18: Baulkham Hills Heritage Walk Walk through the Toongabbie Creek headwaters where some of the first farms in Baulkham Hills were established before the end of the 18th century. The easy graded walk is approximately 3km. Wear enclosed shoes, plus bring a hat and water.

February 21: Roughley House Tour – The Pines, Dural. Learn all about the Roughley family and their historic home, which was built in 1856. The Roughley family story in Australia began in 1817 when Joseph Roughley and his son James were convicted of theft and given a seven year sentence of transportation to Australia. February 19 and 21. Fit 4 Seniors – Waves Fitness & Aquatic Centre at Baulkham Hills. February 22. Dance for Parkinson’s Workshop – Learning in the Hills Balcombe Heights Estate. Seniors with Parkinson’s, their family and carers are invited to this taster dance workshop at 9.30am. A morning tea is available.

Dance for Seniors Workshop – Learning in the Hills Balcombe Heights Estate. This is a fun and invigorating dance workshop. No prior dance experience is required. The fun begins at 11am.
