Matthew Dino is an ambitious 15-year-old that has already premiered two of his original songs on Broadway, with a single coming out this October.
The Kellyville Ridge performer, who has been singing since the three-year-old, composed and performed his first song, Superheroes in Disguise, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The song was a tribute to the selfless acts of front-line workers at Westmead Hospital and was also featured at the 2020 Western Sydney Local Health District Quality Awards.
Matthew’s parents, Sheila and Gemmel are both nurses at Westmead Hospital, and have been incredibly supportive of his journey and proud of his musical achievements. Matthew also has two older brothers: 20-year-old Mark and 17-year-old Martin.
Four years onwards, Matthew re-released Superheroes in Disguise under the mentorship of Lionel Cole and filmed a music video with the support of his school. As a Year 9 student St John XXIII Catholic College, Matthew reflected upon his schools unwavering encouragement. “2 years ago when I re-released ‘Superheroes In Disguise’, my friends and classmates were congratulating me on the opportunity of taking my song to a new level that I never thought could happen.”
As an young artist, Matthew enjoys experimenting with different genres rather than sticking to a single style, allowing him to discover what resonates most with him.
“Over the past four years, my journey with singing has been about growing into and exploring my voice. Yes, it was a bit challenging at times adapting into a new voice, but I’ve used those challenges to refine my techniques and develop my own style”.
