Lisa Harnum Day 2025

Lisa Harnum 2025

The Lisa Harnum Foundation will bring its annual awareness campaign, Lisa Harnum Day, to major Sydney shopping centres this July and August, using public spaces to promote visible solidarity against domestic violence.

In partnership with Amazon Australia volunteers, the Purple Nail Tribe Campaign will host community stations at Westfield Hornsby on 24 and 27 July, and Rouse Hill Town Centre on 31 July, 2 August, and 3 August. A special local event is also scheduled at Kellyville Bushrangers’ Women in League Round on 26 July.

Members of the public are encouraged to paint one fingernail purple and make a $2 gold coin donation to the Lisa Harnum Foundation as part of an awareness campaign highlighting domestic violence. The initiative draws attention to issues such as emotional abuse, coercive control, and the importance of early intervention, key concerns linked to Lisa Harnum’s story.

“Lisa Harnum Day is about remembrance, action, and visibility,” said Aileen Mountifield, Founder of the Lisa Harnum Foundation.

“By painting one nail purple and donating a gold coin, we’re asking people to show up — not just with money, but with heart, conversation, and solidarity.”

The Purple Nail Tribe Campaign focuses on changing conversations around domestic violence, especially among men.

“When men step forward publicly, they help redefine strength as empathy, respect, and accountability. One purple nail says: ‘I see the issue, and I stand for change,’” Mountifield added.

Each station will feature nail-painting stations, face painting and balloon giveaways for kids, retailer promotions including complimentary coffee and donuts, and opportunities to meet local ambassadors and special guests.

The Lisa Harnum Foundation aims to engage thousands of Sydneysiders through these events, raising funds for its domestic violence prevention and recovery programs. The campaign also seeks wider community support, media coverage, and involvement from local businesses and high-profile male role models.
