Light the World Giving Machines Castle Towers
Christmas is such a joyous time of year. A time to celebrate the meaning of Christmas with family and friends, a time to reflect on the year that has been and to look to the new year with anticipation.
However, for many in our community Christmas is not a happy time. More and more of our community are doing it tough as a result of the cost-of-living pressures, domestic and family violence, poverty, family/relationship breakdowns, death of a spouse etc. It is now estimated that 1 out of 3 households in NSW no longer has enough food on the table.
It is important we all dig deep, where we can and help those in need around us either directly or through the many wonderful charities and community groups that help thousands of people every day.
Light the World Giving machines, an initiative of the Church of Jesus Christ, combine kindness with convenience and offer an innovative new way to help Australians this Christmas and to spread a little joy.
The Giving Machines provide an instant opportunity to provide essentials like clothing, meals, school supplies, and life-saving medicine for those facing hardship. Much like a vending machine, you simply select what tangible gift you would like to give someone through one of the six partner charities including UNICEF Australia, FOODBANK NSW & ACT, GIVIT, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, The Smith Family and CareFlight. Once a donation is made, a card symbolic of the purchased item is dispensed as a reminder of the gift of hope you have given to someone in need. A gift as little as $5 will make a huge difference this Christmas!
What is even more special about these machines is that 100% of all donations made through the Giving Machines go directly to the 6 partner charities, maximising the impact of every contribution.
The Light the World Giving Machines is a global Christmas initiative in 108 locations including Las Vegas, London, and New York and has raised over AUD $50 million, directly benefiting vulnerable communities. These machines also attracted widespread support from high-profile names like Drew Barrymore, Travis Kelce, Paul Rudd, and Dan Reynolds, each advocating for the impact of these charitable vending machines.
Giving Machine Sydney Ambassador and Fox Sports Australia presenter Jemma Barge shares her enthusiasm for the initiative: “Many of us want to help but aren’t sure where to begin. The Giving Machines make giving back as easy as buying a snack. With 100% of every donation going directly to those in need, it’s a fun and heartfelt way to turn kindness into action.
