Congratulations to those from The Hills who received a Medal of the Order of Australia as part of the King’s Birthday Honours for 2023.
Bortolo Baitieri of Castle Hill received an OAM for service to rugby league through administrative roles. Bortolo was the International Development Manager of the National Rugby League, Asia Pacific Confederation from 1999-2020 and Coaching Development Manager of New South Wales Rugby League from 1996-1999.
Dr Stuart Braga of Castle Hill was awarded an OAM for service to education administration, and to community history. Stuart was a Committee Member of the Australian College of Educators, New South Wales Chapter from 1976-2014 and President of the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales from 1985-1988.
Dr Gregory Marcar of Kellyville received an OAM for service to medicine through a range of roles. Greg was the Medical Superintendent of Lidcombe Hospital from 1990-1994 and Acting Deputy Medical Officer of Health for NSW Health from 1973-1974.
Mr Michael Morris of Norwest was awarded an OAM for service to the Jewish community of Parramatta. Michael is the current President and an Honorary Life Member of Parramatta and District Synagogue.
