Kenthurst Park’s Southern Field Officially Opened
By Dr Peter Gangemi – Mayor of The Hills Shire Council
It was a privilege to officially open the upgraded Southern Field at Kenthurst Park today
For over a decade, Robyn Preston MP and I have worked with Sue Torville and the Kenthurst & District Football Club to see additional facilities at Kenthurst Park, and it is amazing to see the extended Southern Field ready for the Football season.
The larger southern field now accommodates two full-sized football playing fields, with enhancements also being made to the Cricket turf square and the Cricket outfield. The project also included the construction of ball stop fencing, a retaining wall, a new irrigation system, sports field LED lighting and stormwater drainage. A new gardeners shed and a sports storage shed were also built, and bush regeneration activities were carried out to enhance the Park’s onsite amenity.
As a five year old, I played Football for Kenthurst and Kanga Cricket on this oval, so it was a distinct privilege to unveil the new facilities alongside Robyn, Sue, Charlotte Ercil the General Manager of Hills Football and Scott Reid the Executive Officer of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Hills District Cricket Association.
I can’t wait to see our players and the wider community make the most of the new facilities in the year ahead.
