July Market Day

The Hills Men’s Shed’s next market day will be a Christmas in July theme on Saturday 2nd July at Eric Mobbs Reserve, Ferguson Ave, Castle Hill.

Monthly markets are held on the first Saturday of the month (until September) between 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Visitors are welcome to come along and enjoy coffee, tea and cake for just $2.50.

There will be a selection of children’s wooden toys, handcrafted pens and beautifully crafted shed products. There will also be a good selection of puzzles and games, all priced to sell plus a great range of plants and planter boxes. Tools, crockery and glassware will also be for sale.

Native plants are just $2 each or 6 for $10 and planter boxes can be made to your choice of colour and design.

Little Gem Magnolias and many other varieties are also available. CDs, DVDS and books all going for $1 each or less.

Cakes, jams and crafts will also be for sale at the monthly market. Firewood is $10 per bag or 3 bags for $20.

The Hills Men Shed President Graham Metcalfe said: “The men’s shed movement has now become one of the most powerful tools in addressing health and wellbeing.”

The funds from the next market day will be used to build a working kitchen for the men who are without partners or who are acting as carers, to learn how to cook healthy dishes.

The Hills Men’s Shed is open Monday to Thursdays 9am to 3pm. It is a community space for men to connect, create and converse.

At the moment there are 93 members but they are always looking to boost their membership. The Men’s Shed participates in local community projects and at the moment members are busy making street libraries and shelving for local schools and preschools, bee hotels to encourage environmental care, repairs and refurbishing of items and many other projects.
