Join a Bushcare Group

By Dr Peter Gangemi – Mayor of The Hills Shire Council

Bushcare Group has returned and I’m encouraging residents to join.

Our Bushcare volunteers are very important to protecting our native bushland, as well as preserving natural flora and fauna and removing harmful plants that could comprise these natural environments.

Bushcare GroupVolunteers also conduct plant identification, fauna and flora monitoring and seed collection for propagation at Council’s Community Nursery.

We currently have 278 registered Bushcare volunteers who range in age, including those who are in primary school through to those aged in their 80s.

I know our volunteers have a great time, they make new friends and they also report feeling satisfied that they are able to give back to their local community and environment.

This is a great program that provides many benefits, including health. I highly encourage you to join.

Council’s Bushcare sites are located throughout the region, from South Maroota to Baulkham Hills and West Pennant Hills.

Bushcare is open to people of all ages, however, children under the age of 18 need to be supervised by a guardian.

To join a Bushcare group, or for any further information regarding Bushcare, contact Council’s Bushcare Officer on 9843 0555 or email [email protected]
