International Womens Day Events

There are a huge range of events being organised to celebrate International Womens Day over the next few weeks with many supporting local charities.

International Womens Day EventsWEDNESDAY 6th March The Community Migrant Resource Centre and Worldwide SHEROES will be holding an IWD panel discussion at Western Sydney University on Wednesday 6th March, 9.30am to 1.30pm at the historic Female Orphan School, Building EZ – Conference room EZ.G23, Parramatta South Campus, Victoria Road, Rydalmer

Guest speakers include: Jodie Harrison MP , Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, anya Meade, Dean, School of Psychology, Western Sydney University, Melissa Monterio, CEO Community Migrant Resource Centre, Sahera Sumar, CEO Worldwide SHEROES and Global leadership Consultant and Emilee Gilbert, Associate Dean, Research, Western Sydney University.

Freedom For Humanity will be holding a symposium and cocktail event called My story, Your Story, Our Story at 6.30pm in Darling Harbour. The Hills-based charity is raising funds to support the survivors of modern slavery through its scholarship program.

Speakers include Tahera JB Nassrat (Afghan Peace Foundation, Sahera Sumar (UNAA & Worldwide Sheroes), Lawyer Katherine Hawes, Genille Gordon (Community Migrant Resource Centre – CMRC) Dr Michelle Byrne (Former Mayor, Hills Shire Council and Bianca Hoare (Barker College).

FRIDAY 8th March Norwest Sunrise Rotary Club will be holding a breakfast event featuring three powerful speakers at Maurice’s Café, The Hills Shire Council Chambers, 3 Columbia Court, Baulkham Hills on Friday 8th March from 7am to 8.40am.

Cost is $35 which includes breakfast and tea or coffee.

Zonta Club Sydney Hills has organised the Western Sydney International Women’s Day Breakfast 2024 to raise money to buy starter kits for women seeking refuge at The Sanctuary _ The Hills Women’s Refuge.

The breakfast will be held at the Novotel, Sydney Parramatta on Friday March 8th starting at 6.45am (for 7am start) to 8.30am. Cost is $75 adult or $35 student. Guest speaker is Lawyer Esther Adeyinka who sits on the Department of Home Affairs’ NSW Youth Reference Group and Multicultural NSW Advisory Board.

International Womens Day Events

Powerful Empowered Women will be holding a special evening of fashion and inspiration at historic Cropley House, Baulkham Hills on Friday evening March 8th starting at 6pm.

The theme is: Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment.

Part of the evening will include the Women’s Success Story Awards and awards for Business Woman of the Year, Community Woman of the Year and Powerful Empowered Woman of the Year. There will also be a fashion show, entertainment, guest speakers on women’s health and dinner.

Powerful Empowered Women was founded by Pratibha Banushali in 2019 to give women and small business owners a platform to share their stories and to raise money and goods for local charities so far it has supported i4Give Foundation, StreetMed, The Sanctuary_ The Hills Women’s Shelter, Hills Relay For Life, Pink Ink Australia and charities working with the homeless and domestic violence support groups.
