International Womens Day 2025

A collaboration between three women’s organisations saw a powerful celebration of women’s achievements at a special event held at Rydges Norwest on March 8th.

Pratibha Bhanushali from Powerful Empowered Women and team, Bhavini Singh from BPW and team, and Michelle Russell from Country Women’s Association, Castle Hill and team were onboard to guide an evening of multicultural entertainment.

A Recognition Ceremony during the evening presented awards to:

  • Young Woman of the Year: Ashleen Khela
  • Business Woman of the Year: Michelle Walker
  • Woman in Leadership: Susan Jones
  • Community Woman of the Year: Swecha Kulrestha
  • Woman of Social Impact: Tiya Gorain
  • Rising Star Award: Terese Wilson
  • Performer and Culture of the Year: Leila El Khoury

A cheque for $2,000 was also presented to the Country Women’s Association, Castle Hill to support its work in the community.

Pratibha Bhanushali said the highlight of the event was the Panel Discussion/Q&A Session, where the audience heard from some inspiring individuals, including: Anubha Verma (Banking Supervisor, APRA), Melanie Mackie (Principal of Box Hill Public School), Jeannette Oujani, (Founder of NMCA), Ingita Thakkar (Dementia Australia) and Narendra Kulkarni (Women in Business).
